What Apple Unveiled at Pro and Tell Event: New iPad, MacBook, iMac, and More

Apple spread its news over three days and saved the biggest for last: the first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen.

Apple closed its 2026 product season with the "Pro and Tell" event on Wednesday, October 28, in Los Angeles. The company had already announced three products earlier in the week by press release. Together they make up one of Apple's busiest launch weeks in years.

This blog covers everything Apple announced, what each product costs, and which one suits you.

Everything Apple Announced This Week

  • Monday, October 26: iPad mini 8 with an OLED display, from $699
  • Tuesday, October 27: iMac with the M6 chip, from $1,499
  • Tuesday, October 27: 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, from $1,999
  • Wednesday, October 28: MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, a touchscreen model, from $2,899
  • Also: An update to Apple Creator Studio and more Siri AI features

Apple did not announce a new iPhone. Pre-orders opened October 28, and deliveries and in-store availability begin November 6.

MacBook Pro With PROLED XDR Display: The Main Event

The new MacBook Pro is the first Mac with a touchscreen. It comes in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and runs on M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. The 14-inch M5 Pro model starts at $2,899 with a 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB of memory, and 1TB of storage. The 16-inch M5 Pro starts at $3,399, and prices climb to $4,799.

A Tandem OLED Touchscreen

Apple's new PROLED XDR display uses two OLED layers. It reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. Touch supports familiar gestures: scrolling, pinching to zoom, drag and drop, and flicking windows to tile them. Apple built the touch sensor into the panel, and macOS turns touches into clicks, so most existing apps work on day one. Touch is an extra, so you can keep using the trackpad and keyboard.

Dynamic Island Comes to the Mac

The laptop adds a Dynamic Island at the top of the screen. It shows Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI, so you can accept an AirDrop or pause a song at a glance. Siri AI is in beta in macOS 27.2 and supports six languages, and Spotlight only moves into the island when Siri AI is available and turned on.

Other Hardware Details

Apple promises up to 24 hours of battery life. The laptop also includes Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and a six-speaker system with 50% deeper bass. It has a redesigned, lighter body.

M6 MacBook Pro and M6 iMac: Chip-Only Updates

The M6 machines are smaller updates. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at $1,999, or $1,899 for education. It has 16GB of memory, expandable to 32GB, and keeps the Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display. The M6 iMac starts at $1,499, with up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, Wi-Fi 7, a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, and seven colors.

Reviewers note that both machines add little beyond the new chip and faster networking. The M6 is Apple's first 2nm chip, first introduced in the Mac mini in August.

iPad mini 8: OLED Arrives

The iPad mini 8 gets its biggest redesign in years. It has an 8.5-inch OLED display, up from 8.3 inches, in the same body size. For the first time on an iPad mini, buyers can choose nano-texture glass to cut glare. The tablet runs the A20 Pro chip from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo, so it supports Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.

Apple replaced the speaker grilles with under-display speakers. That sealed design gives the iPad mini an IP67 rating, meaning it resists dust and can survive immersion in a meter of fresh water for 30 minutes. Prices run from $699 to $1,249 across storage sizes and cellular models.

Creator Studio and Software Updates

Apple also updated Creator Studio. It adds MotionVFX content to Final Cut Pro, video assets to the Content Hub, and expanded music tools to Logic Pro. New intelligence features arrive in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. The week also brought more Siri AI features and more supported languages.

M5 Pro/Max or M6? The Confusing Choice

Apple's lineup now has an odd split. The cheaper MacBook Pro has the newer M6 chip but an older mini-LED screen. The touchscreen OLED model has the newer display but the older M5 Pro or M5 Max chip. You can't get both yet. Choose the M6 model if you want the newest chip at the lowest price. Choose the PROLED model if screen quality, touch, and battery life matter more to your work.

Release Dates and Availability

All the new products can be ordered from Apple in 35 countries and regions, including the US, with deliveries from November 6. Apple does not sell directly in Bangladesh, so buyers there should wait for authorized resellers and confirm that a unit is official and carries a warranty.

Which New Apple Product Should You Buy?

  • iPad mini 8 ($699): A pocketable OLED tablet for reading, notes, and Apple Pencil
  • M6 iMac ($1,499): A desk computer for families and creators. Skip it if you own a recent iMac.
  • M6 MacBook Pro ($1,999): The practical choice for most professionals
  • PROLED MacBook Pro ($2,899+): For creators who want OLED, touch, and the best display

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is the headline, and it marks a real change in how Macs work. The M6 updates are modest, and the iPad mini 8 is a meaningful upgrade. Decide based on whether you value the newest chip, the best screen, or the lowest price.
